The Sony Alpha 7S III Mirrorless Full-frame Camera (Body Only) increases the standard for what a full-frame mirrorless camera is capable of, with enhanced video, sensitivity, and speed. Along with UHD 4K 120p video recording and internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling, a revamped 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, and enhanced BIONZ XR image processor provide quicker performance. With 12.1 effective megapixels, the newly designed back-illuminated full-frame Exmor RTM CMOS sensor has a reading speed up to twice as fast as the 7S II, as well as great sensitivity and a broad dynamic range. A sophisticated color filter array improves color reproduction accuracy, while focal plane phase-detection AF improves autofocus stability and precision, all of which contribute to exceptional image quality. Sony Alpha 7S III boasts a revised 12.1MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated Exmor RS design for greater clarity and noise reduction, as well as the expectedly high sensitivity range of ISO 80-102400 with an increased ISO 40-409600 range. The improved sensor design also results in 2x quicker readout speeds than prior generations, and when combined with the upgraded BIONZ XR image processor, eliminates rolling shutter by 3x and provides up to 8x faster processing and overall camera handling. The sensor and CPU combination also contributes to a broad dynamic range of up to 14 stops for stills and 15 stops for video, as well as 10 frames per second continuous shooting for up to 1000 uncompressed raw files for stills. The Alpha 7S III Mirrorless Full-frame can record UHD 4K at frame speeds up to 120p using full 1:1 pixel readout without binning. Internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling is also supported in all recording modes, and 16-bit raw output is available when recording externally through the full-size HDMI A connection for even greater tone reproduction and post-production versatility. Two codecs have also been developed: XAVC HS, which employs HEVC/H.265 encoding to maintain greater detail at lower bitrates, and XAVC S-I, an intraframe codec providing constant performance and quality at bitrates up to 600 Mb/s.
